A Waffle House customer was arrested on a charge of murder after allegedly killing an employee because he was told not to smoke at the restaurant, police in Mississippi said.
The Biloxi Police Department said that they have arrested 45-year-old Johnny Max Mount, after being accused of killing 52-year-old Julia Brightwell, after she told him to stop smoking.
Mount was charged with one count of first-degree murder. He was booked into the Harrison County Jail, and his bail was set at $2 million.
According to the police investigation, Mount got into an argument with the employee about smoking. At some point, he pulled out a gun and shot the employee in the head.
The employee was taken to the Merit Health Biloxi, where she died of a gunshot wound to the head. The victim worked at the Waffle House for eight years.
