A mother was arrested on a charge of child cruelty after abandoning her newborn baby in a toilet while playing arcade games, police in the United Kingdom said.

Now, 30-year-old Nicola Glover of Prescot, has been sentenced to serve 8 months in jail, which was suspended for 18 months, after pleading guilty to child cruelty.

According to the police investigation, Glover and her mother went to Southport, along with her brother and sisters.

Around 5:00 p.m., Glover told members of the family that she needed to go to the toilet. She didn’t return for about half an hour.

Her mother was suspicious, but Glover didn’t tell her anything.

About an hour later, the baby was discovered by staff in the disabled toilet at the Silcocks Amusements. The baby was taken to a hospital, where her condition was described as good.

Police issued an appeal to find the baby’s mother.

Glover’s half sister recognized her from the police photo and her mother told Glover to give herself up before things got out of control.

Glover agreed and her mother contacted the police. Glover told officers that she had panicked after giving birth to the baby girl and had been frightened by the events.

She told officers that the decision to leave the baby was the worst decision of her life and told a relative afterwards that she had made a terrible mistake.
