Police in Zimbabwe, said that they have arrested a few boys for causing an accident that killed 15 people.
Three boys of Mudzi, have been arrested for allegedly throwing two large rocks in the middle of the Harare-Nyamapanda highway, causing car crashes and 15 deaths.
The defendants who are 12, 14 and 16 years old, were arrested by police in Kotwa, after one of them confessed to having thrown the rocks onto the road.
Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi confirmed that three arrests and said that the investigation is ongoing.
Police said that the boys had accompanied a relative to a bus station on Friday night, and while playing around, the boys pushed the two large rocks in the middle of the road.
The accident occurred around 11:20 p.m., when a bus crashed into the rocks and hit another bus.
According to police, 23 people were on board the bus when the driver lost control after hitting rocks in his lane. The bus then swerved into the opposite lane, where it collided head on with a bus that had 16 passengers on board.
Police said that 13 people, including the driver of the bus, died instantly.
Twenty people were injured and rushed to a hospital. Two more people died while being transferred to Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare. Four people were unharmed.
