A man in the United Kingdom, was arrested after going on a rampage during a wedding because he did not know anyone.

Police in Lancashire, said that the man caused almost $30,000 in damages to a hotel, it’s wedding venue and nearby cars.

Alex Rees, 26, was invited to the wedding by his girlfriend Tayah Neild.

However, instead of making small talk and meeting her family members, Rees went on a rampage, causing a lot of damage.

Prosecutor Joseph Allman told the court that before the wedding, the defendant was anxious and he did not want to go because he did not know anybody.

His girlfriend, who was the maid of honor, persuaded him to go with her to the wedding.

However, during the wedding, Allman disappeared. Neild went out to look for him and found him. She told police that he seemed to be under the influence of drugs.

Rees smashed 5 cars and assaulted his girlfriend. He then went on a wild rampage and smeared feces on the walls before destroying property in the hall.

Rees caused chaos to Jason and Laura Blockley’s wedding. Police were called and Rees was arrested.
In court, he apologized to the newlywed couple and their families.

Rees was sentenced to 16 months in prison after Judge Simon Newell heard that he had done something similar before.

During sentencing the judge said: “The consequences involved were not just the damage to the wedding hall because it can be repaired.”

However, the judge pointed out that he cannot rectify the heartache and disruption he caused to the bride, groom and their families.
