(Scroll down for video) A woman told a court of the difficult life she had while living with her father.

75-year-old Aravindan Balakrishnan held his daughter and other women imprisoned at his house and warned them they would be harmed if they left.

Balakrishnan homeschooled his daughter and did not allow her to have any friends. She was not allowed to look out the window. However, the woman said that she did sometimes look out the window without permission.

On one occasion, when she did so, she saw a neighbor throwing a birthday party for her son. She knew that she was missing out by not being allowed to go outside.

However, the woman was brainwashed into believing that if she went outside, monsters would come and take her away.

The woman said that in one incident, her father punished her by putting her out of the house, and she was terrified that she will be killed or kidnapped.

Balakrishnan had up to 8 women living with him at times, and they were loyal to him. He regularly raped the women. The rape case came to light when police entered the home and found three women locked inside.

Police freed the women who were between 57 and 69 years old, along with the suspect’s 30-year-old daughter.

Balakrishnan brainwashed them to believe that he has a higher power. The women said that they had been cut off from the outside world for decades while Balakrishnan regularly raped them.

Balakrishnan was found guilty of four counts of rape and six counts of indecent assault. He was also convicted of causing bodily harm, cruelty to a child and false imprisonment.

He now faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
