(Scroll down for video) A woman got away from the scene of an accident that she caused until her car called police to report her.
57-year-old Cathy Bernstein of Florida, was arrested after her car called 911 on her.
Bernstein was charged with hit and run and causing bodily harm. The Port St. Lucie Police Department was called to the scene of the accident after the victim called, and said someone hit her and fled the scene.
Officials then received an automated call from the suspect’s OnStar safety feature, saying that the car was involved in an accident.
The dispatcher then reached out to Bernstein to ask her if she was involved in an accident. Bernstein denied hitting another car.
The dispatcher explained that the car does not call for no reason and asked if she left the scene of an accident. Bernstein replied that she would never do such a thing.
However, when police went to Bernstein’s home, they found that her vehicle had extensive damage to the front. It also had silver paint from the victim’s vehicle on it.
Bernstein’s airbag had also been deployed. She was taken to the hospital before being arrested and booked into the St. Lucie County jail.
The victim was also taken to the hospital, where she was treated and released.
