Police in Alaska, are asking parents to speak with their children to determine if they were sexually abused by a female daycare worker.
The Anchorage Police Department announced that the former owner of a daycare center was arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation into allegations that she sexually abused a child in her care.
Police said that former daycare owner Marcela Orand, 35, is accused of sexually abusing the child in her care at the “Monkey’s Little Ones” babysitting service, which she operated from her home in the 3100 block of Checkmate Drive in East Anchorage.
Police were alerted to the possible misconduct after one of the parents reported that her child had been sexually abused by Orand. The child was in her care, the spokesman for APD, Jennifer Castro, said.
Following an investigation, Orand was arrested and charged with second-degree sexual abuse of a minor.
Police believe that there may be more victims, and urged parents and guardians to talk to their children about possible sexual abuse while in the care of Orand.
