(Scroll down for video) A young man filed a complaint with the police after officers took away 100,000 euros, which he found floating in the river, police in Austria said.
Vienna police said that investigators are trying to figure out how more than 100,000 euros ($110,000) ended up floating in the Danube River.
So far, investigators have not found any criminal act in the area, which could explain the origin of the money. The young man who spotted the treasure, jumped into the river to retrieve it.
Bystanders who were thinking that the man was trying to commit suicide, alerted the police, who arrived just as the man emerged from the water with the money.
According to the law, anyone who finds cash and hand it over to the police can claim 5 to 10 percent of the sum. After a year, if the police fail to find the rightful owner, the entire sum is then returned to the finder.
