A young man was arrested on a charge of burglary after allegedly breaking into his mother’s apartment to steal hot soup, police in New Mexico said.
Albuquerque police said that they have arrested 23-year-old Jonathan Ray, after being accused of stealing a pot of his soup from his mother’s home.
Ray was charged with one count burglary and was booked into jail.
According to the police investigation, police were called to the home of the suspect’s mother on Thursday, on a report of a break in.
Police officers who arrived at the scene, were greeted by Ray’s mother, who told them that her son stole a pot of soup. The mother told investigators that Ray sent her a text message, stating that he wants a pot of soup because he was hungry.
The mother said “no.” However, Ray did not take no for an answer. He broke into his mother’s home, went to the fridge and took out the pot of soup before fleeing from the scene.
The mother found that her son caused damage to the garage door.
