Air traffic controller tells police he regularly smokes meth to stay awake

(Scroll down for video) An air traffic controller who was reassigned after misdirecting a plane carrying Michelle Obama, admitted to police that he regularly smokes meth in order to stay awake, police in new York said.

Wantagh police said that they have arrested 52-year-old Breen Peck, after being accused of carrying illegal handguns and being in possession of meth while driving.

Peck was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was also charged with traffic violations for failing to signal and having tinted windows on his car.

He was booked into jail, and his bail was set at $25,000.

According to the police investigation, Peck was on his way to a hotel when he was stopped for tinted windows and failing to signal.

Peck admitted that he is in possession of meth and loaded handguns.

Peck was moved to the Terminal Radar Approach Control Facilities in Westbury, after misdirecting a plane carrying first lady Michelle Obama.

Investigators believe that Peck smokes meth regularly. During his arrest, Peck admitted to smoking meth because it helps him stay awake.
