A man was arrested after he stole a limousine with two women still inside.
The two women of Florida, were taken on a terrifying journey after the man jumped into the driver’s seat of the limousine and drove off, according to police.
Palm Beach police responded to the Cucina Dell’Arte Restaurant at 257 Poinciana Way, on a report of a stolen vehicle.
According to the arrest warrant, one of the victims told police that she and a friend were leaving the restaurant and got into the limousine that is owned by her boyfriend.
The suspect, who was later identified as 55-year-old Anthony M. Almand of New Jersey, jumped in and drove off.
The two women began to scream at Almand, and ordered him to stop the car and let them get out, but he ignored them, police said. He continued to drive erratically until he decided to stop the car.
He abandoned the vehicle and walked away, leaving the terrified women behind. They told police that they felt they were being kidnapped and were unsure of the suspect’s intentions.
One of the victims told the officers that she saw Almand earlier in the day, and he made several advances toward her and her friend, but they ignored him.
Police arrested Almand. He admitted to taking the car in an attempt to “be funny,” police said. Almand was charged with two counts of false imprisonment, grand theft auto and resisting an officer without violence.
