A construction worker was arrested on a charge of murder after allegedly killing his wife and burying her body under a customer’s house, police in Japan said.

Nagaokakyo police said that they have arrested 41-year-old Toshitsune Watanabe, after being accused of burying his dead wife in the garage of his customer.

Watanabe was charged with one count of murder and one count of abandoning a corpse.

According to the police investigation, Watanabe killed 37-year-old Hiroko Watanabe, before taking her body to his client’s home and burying her body in the garage.

A few days later, Toshitsune Watanabe told police that his wife had disappeared. Police searched for the woman, but she was not found.

Police then asked Toshitsune Watanabe, if they could go public with his story and ask anyone for information to come forward, but he refused.

As a result, police began investigating Toshitsune Watanabe for the death of his wife. When police questioned Toshitsune Watanabe, he admitted to burying his dead wife under the client’s home.

Police searched the residence on Tuesday morning, and they found the woman wrapped in a blanket under the garage.

Police believe that residents of the house had no idea that there was a dead body under the garage on their property. According to the suspect’s neighbors, Toshitsune Watanabe and his wife fought at the time of her disappearance.

Toshitsune Watanabe and his wife had a 7-year-old son together.
