(Scroll down for video) A family and community are shocked and angry after two young children were found dead.

Police in California, broke into a storage room in Redding, and found the bodies of the two young children.

The children were reported missing while being in the care of a family member and her much younger boyfriend.

Police arrested the children’s relative, Tami Joy Huntsman, 39, and her 17-year-old boyfriend, Gonzalo Curiel, after the bodies were discovered.

Both Huntsman and Curiel, were booked into the Plumas County Jail, on charges of child abuse, torture and mayhem. Their bail was set at $1 million each.

Police said that the children were in the custody of the couple when they went missing. The children were identified as Delylah Tara, 3, and Shaun Tara, 6.

The Plumas County Sheriff’s Department said that the couple was known to them. They were called to the home and found a 9-year-old girl severely abused.

The girl weighed about 40 pounds, she had open sores, lice, broken bones and missing teeth. The girl was removed from the home. She was the niece of Huntsman.

Police also removed Huntsman’s twins who are 12 years old.

They were placed in foster care. The 9-year-old girl, who police said was subjected to the most unspeakable measure of torture for an extended period of time, is being treated at a Sacramento hospital.

Police are waiting for an autopsy to determine if the couple will be charged with murder in the death of the innocent children.
