A man was arrested on a charge of fraud after taking disability benefits from the government while working as a male stripper, police in the United Kingdom said.
Now, 51-year-old Mark Hetherington of Blackpool, was ordered to complete 150 hours of community service after pleading guilty to fraud.
The Blackpool Magistrate’s Court heard how Hetherington performed as a male stripper under the name Ian Kognito while claiming disability benefits.
Hetherington claimed a total of 5018.80 pounds ($7,472) over a two year period.
According to the police investigation, Hetherington took off his clothes for cash as a dancer despite telling the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) that he suffered from anxiety that left him unable to work or even go out of the house.
Witnesses told the court that Hetherington dressed up as Batman and other characters before taking off his clothes.
