A television news reported filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against her employer, claiming that she was punished because she is a white woman, according to court documents in Michigan.
Now, Leslie Toldo settled the lawsuit with ABC12, before going to trial in front of Genesee Circuit Judge Geoffrey Neithercut.
Toldo will receive $79,900 after claiming that ABC12 discriminated against her because she is a white woman.
According to the lawsuit filed in court, Toldo was disciplined during her tenure at the station for doing the same things that black or male employees did without being punished.
Toldo was punished for being a few minutes late for meetings, while black employees came late without being disciplined.
She also was called out for dresses that she chose to use at work. Toldo worked as an anchor, reporter and meteorologist at the station.
Toldo also claimed that her contract wasn’t renewed because she complained about the violations of women’s rights at the station.
In the lawsuit, Toldo asked for $100,000.
