A family was left devastated after receiving the tragic news that their teenage son was killed while riding his motorcycle.
The 16-year-old boy was killed while riding the scrambler motorcycle that he had received as a gift a few hours earlier.
The boy, who was identified as Warren Kenny of Ireland, was out riding the bike in broad daylight, when he collided with another motorcycle at full speed.
He was rushed to the St. James’ Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the second motorcycle, who is in his 20s, was also taken to a hospital. He suffered a broken arm.
Kenny was overjoyed with his gift and was out riding the motorcycle in Ballyfermot, Dublin, about 8:00 a.m. Sadly, he never made it home after his first ride on the bike.
The crash site was cordoned off and the road was closed to traffic. A team of Garda forensic collision investigators were called to inspect the scene to figure out how the crash occurred.
Sinn Fein councillor Daithi Doolan said that the accident was a “terrible tragedy” and he urged young people to be more careful while riding motorcycles.
