A young woman was arrested on a charge of shoplifting after allegedly riding around in a motorized scooter at Walmart, and taking wine, sushi and other items before eating them, police in Florida said.
The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office said that they have arrested 20-year-old Josseleen Elida Lopez, after being accused of stealing $32 worth of food from Walmart.
The woman also admitted to using meth. Lopez was charged with shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the police investigation, on Tuesday, the loss prevention officer of Walmart, contacted the police about an alleged thief who was detained in the store.
The employee told police that he noticed the woman acting suspiciously while riding around the store in a motorized scooter.
He saw a half-empty wine bottle in her shopping cart. He also saw a box of sushi, a piece of chicken, cinnamon rolls and mini muffins.
Lopez consumed the food and wine while riding around in the store. Officers found two empty syringes her possession, one in her bag and one in a backpack.
When asked why she took the food, she said that she was hungry.
