(Scroll down for video) Many fans were overjoyed when Enrique Iglesias came to their country to hold a concert.
However, after watching the actions of his female fans during the concert, the president of Sri Lanka, was unimpressed.
President Maithripala Sirisena said that the organizers of the Enrique Iglesias concert should be whipped as punishment for the behavior of some female fans.
Sirisena said scenes of women running on stage to kiss the singer and throwing bras at him was “most uncivilized.”
The president said that the concert organizers should be “whipped with toxic stingray tails.” He was referring to an ancient punishment against hardened criminals in medieval times.
The concert was held in Colombo. The president said that he was surprised to learn that during the concert, women removed their bras in public and threw them at the pop star. Some also ran on stage to hug and kiss him.
“This uncivilized behavior goes against our culture,” he said at a public meeting. “I do not advocate that these uncivilized women who removed their bras should be beaten with toxic stingray tails, but those who organized this event should be,” he added.
