Just days after McDonald's Japan solved its French fries crisis, the company stopped sales of Chicken McNuggets after a customer found a piece of blue vinyl in his chicken.
A spokesperson for the company said that the contaminated chicken nuggets found at an Aomori store location were removed and sent back to its headquarters in Tokyo, for further investigation.
Recently, the company has dropped its chicken supplier, Shanghai Husi Food Co., because they sold expired products. The company has since been importing its meat from Thailand.
Last month, McDonald’s experienced a shortage of frozen french fries after imports were delayed due to labor disputes in shipping ports along the West Coast of the United States.
McDonald’s temporarily stopped selling medium and large size of their fries throughout Japan, but resumed sales of all sizes this week.
The company also admitted that it had received a similar complaint from another customer who bought chicken nuggets in Tokyo last week.
"We deeply apologize for this inconvenience to our customers at a time when we are struggling to regain your confidence," company spokesperson Kokoro Toyama said.
