(Scroll down for video) A homeless man who raped and killed a popular pastry chef, told police that he committed the crimes because he just exploded, prosecutors in Australia said.
43-year-old Scott Allen Miller of Melbourne, pleaded guilty to killing 32-year-old Renea Lau, also known as Yuk Ling Lau.
Miller also pleaded guilty to two counts of rape.
According to the police investigation, Lau was on her way to work at Ganache Chocolates in South Yarra about 5:30 a.m., when she ran into Miller.
Miller chased after her, dragged her to nearby bushes, beat her and raped her twice. Miller then left her at the scene to die. Lau’s dead body was discovered by hikers.
Miller had harassed several women in bars the night before the murder, the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court heard. After attacking Lau, Miller caught a train and hitchhiked to Gippsland.
Two days after the attack, he was caught and arrested. Miller told police that he was drunk when he attacked Lau, and could not remember how many times he hit her.
He also said that he committed the acts of violence because he just exploded. Miller said that he is happy to go to prison because he will have a bed and food.
