(Scroll down for video) Wildlife officials want to ban the use of chocolate as bait for bears after 4 bears died of chocolate overdose.

Two female adults bears and two cubs were found dead in New Hampshire, in an area where a hunter placed 90 pounds of chocolate and donuts as bait.

The autopsy and toxicology reports conducted at the University of New Hampshire, confirmed that the animals died of heart failure caused by theobromine, an ingredient in chocolate.

Andrew Timmins, the state Fish and Game Department's bear project leader, said that the best way to prevent this from happening again is to ban the use of chocolate as bait in forests.

Timmins said that the amount of theobromine varies with the type of chocolate used, but all can be toxic depending on how much the animal eat.

Back in 2011, a black bear cub in Michigan, was found dead, and the death was also linked to theobromine.
