Two armed robbers fled in horror after being attacked by an elderly woman with an umbrella, police in the United Kingdom said.
90-year-old Mildred Unsworth fought off the two robbers wearing ski masks with her umbrella as they attacked her 68-year-old son, a court in Lancashire heard.
Neil Unsworth told the court that his mother was only taking care of her child.

His wife Frances was sprayed in the face with pepper spray. The robbers fled when Mildred Unsworth, slammed the stick of the umbrella into one robber’s head.
52-year-old Edward Brown was sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison, while 63-year-old Philip Mortlock was given nine years and two months in prison.
Both pleaded guilty to robbery.
53-year-old Peter Singleton, who masterminded the plot because he was in desperate financial trouble, pleaded guilty to aiding a felon and encouraging the commission of a crime.
He was given seven years and two months in prison.
