A young father of two children in the United Kingdom, died while playfully fighting with his friend while they were drunk.
23-year-old Tommy Main died after suffering a heart attack during a wrestling game called “blow for blow” with his friend, 21-year-old Desmond Bartley.
The two were at a party when they got into a fist fight in Erith, London.
Witnesses described how Main was laughing while the two exchanged blows before Main fell face down on the ground.
The victim turned blue and Bartley tried to hold him while crying and saying he did not mean to hurt Main.
Bartley claims that he barely touched his friend. He told police that the two had been “messing around” and exchanged blows.
Bartley, who had known Main for 10 years, was arrested after he was accused of delivering the fatal blow, which ultimately killed his friend.
Main was taken to Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford, Kent, where he died.
A post-mortem examination on the body discovered that Main had deep bruising on the left side of his chest, which is believed to be the result of a blow.
Police said that drugs and alcohol were involved.
“There is no suggestion that there had been any animosity between the two earlier that evening. Indeed, the evidence suggests that they were getting on well,” the prosecutor said.
