A hotel was slapped with a lawsuit after forcing an employee to flip over a mattress after a guest was found dead on it, according to court documents in Florida.
African-American workers of Days Inn in Tampa, have filed the lawsuit against their former employer, claiming that they faced discrimination and other difficulties at work.
In one case, an employee said that she was forced to turn around a mattress where a guest had died in preparation for the next guest’s arrival.
Charlena Williams filed a complaint with officials after she was forced to clean a hotel room where a dead body was found.
Williams said that the hotel did not take sufficient health and safety measures to clean blood, vomit and other fluids from the room before booking the new guests to stay there.
The hotel received $13,685 in fines as a result of the incident.
The lawsuit also accused the hotel of discrimination, saying that racial slurs were used. The hotel management told employees that they would be fired on the basis of race.
The Days Inn is located at 701 N Fletcher Avenue.
