Pamela Held
By: Chan Yuan

(Scroll down for video) A police officer will have to pay for his own lawyer after both the city and union said that they will not represent him in a lawsuit.

Officer Sean Christian of New York, is being sued by 28-year-old Pamela Held, after he stole nude photos from her phone during a traffic stop.

Christian was with the 104th Precinct of the New York Police Department (NYPD), when Held was pulled over because her car did not have an inspection sticker.

While searching the car, police found prescription drugs. Held was arrested on a misdemeanor drug charge, which was later dropped.

During questioning, Held of Long Island, gave a female police officer the code to unlock her iPhone so she could display text messages to prove her whereabouts.

Police officers kept the cellphone while a desk appearance ticket was written for her.

After Held finally got her phone back, she realized that 20 nude photos and videos of herself were sent to a number she did not recognize.

Her lawyer, Richard Soleymanzadeh, traced the phone number to Officer Christian. The officer told investigators that he never received the images, but Soleymanzadeh said that iPhone showed that the text messages went through.

Christian, who is now assigned to the 70th Precinct, was disciplined for his actions internally. He lost 45 vacation days and was placed on probation for one year.

Both the city and the union are refusing to represent the officer because the case was “not a situation in the performance of his duty as a police office.”

Ellis was on jury duty when a case was heard of a man who robbed a home. The victim was so traumatized about the home invasion, that she moved out of the state.

The victim came back to New York, to see justice being served. However, the judge had no choice but to declare a mistrial over Ellis’ actions.

Ellis, who said on Facebook that she was “dying of boredom” in court, also wrote: “The other jurors don’t trust the police and want to outright dismiss the confessions as well as the majority of the evidence. Tomorrow is going to be a very difficult day.”

Paul Rater of Buckeye, Arizona, was arrested after his granddaughter was found alone in the desert with the loaded gun.

He said that he did not have his cellphone with him so he went to look for help, but when the girl was too tired to continue walking, he just left her under a tree.

When the man reached a bar, he decided to get something to eat and drink as he was hungry and dehydrated. He then called his wife to let her know that the girl was left behind in the desert.

The family called police, who used a helicopter to search for the child. Meanwhile, a family member found the girl alone with the .45 caliber handgun that had been cocked and in a position ready to fire.

A man was arrested, charged and convicted of violence causing death in the death of his brother.

According to court documents, the 55-year-old man of Denmark, killed his brother by shoving 2 potatoes down his throat.

The incident occurred after the brothers, who were drunk, got into an argument. The fight between the two brothers of Jutland, ended with the older brother dead.

The 55-year-old brother was acquitted of murder, but he was convicted of violence causing death.

Prosecutors said that the younger man killed his 57-year-old brother by pushing potatoes down his throat. The suspect also punched his brother repeatedly in the head and neck.

The 55-year-old man called an ambulance, saying that his brother was unconscious at the home they shared. Rescue personnel arrived to find the older brother dead with a potato lodged in his windpipe.

The younger brother was arrested shortly thereafter. Jurors at the Hjorring District Court, disagreed about the charges against the suspect.

Three jurors believed that there was sufficient evidence to convict the man of murder, while three other thought that the man had no intention of killing his brother.

They pointed to the fact that he had tried to take the potatoes out of his brother’s throat before calling an ambulance. With the hung jury, the man was convicted of the lesser charge of violence causing death.

The 55-year-old man was sentenced to seven years in prison.
