A man was arrested on a charge of assault after using an ax to cut his neighbor because he sang off tune, police in Zimbabwe said.
Jotsholo police said that they have arrested 28-year-old Consen Nkala, after being accused of cutting his neighbor, 32-year-old Bekezela Mpofu.
Now, Nkala has been sentenced to serve 3 months in jail after being convicted of assault.
According to the police investigation, Nkala was on his way home after drinking for several hours at a bar when he walked by Mpofu’s apartment.
Mpofu, a member of a church choir, was practicing his singing, but Nkala felt that he sang off tune. Nkala went into the home and confronted Mpofu about his singing.
Mpofu however, told Nkala to mind his own business. That is when Nkala pulled an ax and hit Mpofu twice in the head and once in the left shoulder.
Mpofu was rushed to the St. Lukes Hospital, where he was treated and released. In court, Nkala blamed the attack on his addiction to alcohol.
