Police arrested seven men on a charge of indecent assault after allegedly taking upskirt photos of girls who came to visit a temple, police in Japan said.
Kyoto police said that they have arrested the seven men, who were not identified, after being accused of posing as tourists at the Kiyomizu Temple, where they took upskirt photos of numerous women and girls without their consent.
The men are between 31 and 52 years old.
According to the police investigation, the men chose the famous tourist destination to take pictures of the unsuspecting women as there are lots of people with cameras.
They also took photos of girls who visited the temple on school trips.
During questioning, the suspects told investigators that it was pretty easy to take upskirt photos because of the numerous stairs at the temple.
The incident came to light after several men posted the upskirt photos on the Internet, where they went viral.
