Young woman kills her unborn baby during ninth month of pregnancy because she couldn't deal with the stress
A young woman was arrested after taking more than 70 pills of misoprostol, in order to kill her unborn baby during the ninth month of pregnancy, police in the United Kingdom said.
Now, 24-year-old Natalie Towers of County Durham, has been sentenced to serve 2 and a half years in jail after pleading guilty to administering poison with intent to procure a miscarriage.
According to the police investigation, Towers was home alone when she called an ambulance, saying that she was having a miscarriage.
When the paramedics arrived at the scene, she said that she had stomach pain and heavy bleeding, but she appeared to be happy.
Towers told the paramedics that the baby is definitely dead.
The baby's body was found in the bathroom of the house. The Medical Examiner determined that the baby was between 32 and 34 weeks and he was born dead.
Police officers who arrived at the scene, learned that Towers took a large amount of misoprostol to induce miscarriage. A package of 92 tablets were found during a police search of her house, but only 13 pills remained.
Towers initially denied knowing that she was pregnant, but later confessed that she could not cope with the stress.
A search of her computer revealed that she was visiting an online pharmacy in connection with the abortion pill and consultations on how to clear the search history.
