(Scroll down for video) A young teenage boy was hospitalized after he was shot by an angry man while ringing the man’s door bell as a prank.
Cole Peyton of Pryor, Oklahoma, was with two friends when they decided to play jokes on people in his neighborhood by playing “ding, dong, ditch.”
The teens began ringing people’s doorbells at 1:30 a.m., and ran away before the homeowners came to the doors.
However, things backfired when one neighbor was frightened and thought that someone wanted to break into the home. The homeowner came outside and began shooting at the three teens.
Peyton was hit in the back and arms. The bullet wounded his liver. He was rushed to a hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.
The case has been handed over to prosecutors who are determining whether the shooting was justified. So far, no arrests have been made.
Investigators are now focused on whether the homeowner’s use of deadly force was legal or illegal, Chief of Police Steven W. Lemmings said.
