A mother was arrested after she allowed a man to beat her son unconscious.

41-year-old Julie Larsen of Ireland, was arrested after police said that she knew that someone was going to her home to beat up her son.

The mother came home to find the assault in progress and did not stop it. Instead of bringing the situation under control, Julie Larsen allegedly assaulted her son’s girlfriend.

When the victim’s girlfriend tried to stop the attack, Julie Larsen allegedly beat her, breaking her arm in three places.

Julie Larsen then cleaned her home to hide evidence before calling police to report that she found her son bloodied and unconscious.

She claimed that she had no idea who attacked him, and that he had been receiving threats from neighbors. She did not disclose that she witnessed the beating.

The man who committed the crime is still at large.

Police said that 24-year-old Matthew Larsen, was beaten with a metal bar in the apartment in Mount Vernon, Belfast.

He was struck up to 20 times in the head, causing his ear to “explode,” a judge heard. Matthew Larsen was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, where he is in critical condition.

Julie Larsen faces charges of attempted murder and attempting to pervert the course of justice. She was denied bail based on the risk of interference with witnesses.
