The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said that they have arrested 49-year-old Laura Reid, after being accused of beating the victim and stealing his valuables.

Reid was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree robbery and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.

According to the police investigation, when Reid was visiting the disabled man at his home, she asked him if he believes in God.

When the man said that he does not, Reid became angry. She grabbed his metal stick and began beating him on the head and body until it broke.

The victim was unable to leave the home because of his disabilities. Before fleeing from the scene, Reid took the man’s cellphone, keys, $50 in cash and a wallet containing his credit cards.

The man crawled to a nearby gas station, where workers called the police.

He was taken to St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital, where he was treated for a concussion and a broken arm as well as bruises, cuts and abrasions.
