A tenant was arrested on a charge of murder after allegedly stabbing his landlord in the stomach because he prevented him from using the bathroom, police in Ghana said.

Kotobabi Police said that they have arrested 27-year-old John Collins Alabi, after being accused of killing 23-year-old Paul Goka, during a dispute over using the bathroom of their apartment building.

Alabi was charged with one count of murder.

According to the police investigation, the apartment building in which the suspect and the victim lived, used to have a bathroom used strictly for bathing, but was demolished after the tenants defecated on the floor.

Goka told all tenants to use the public bath instead.

Alabi, who said that he had no money to pay for the public bath, went to the shower in the demolished bathroom when he was caught by Goka.

The two started arguing, and at some point, Alabi grabbed a knife and stabbed his landlord in the stomach. Goka was taken to the Maamobi Polyclinic, but was referred to the 37 Military Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
