A young woman was arrested after her mucus hit a court officer in the face.
24-year-old Mellissa Estelle of Channahon, Illinois, was accused of “intentionally sneezing” in the face of the court officer and leaving a “trail of mucus” in a Will County courtroom.
Estelle was arrested on one count of battery. Estelle was in court on Wednesday morning, where she faced felony charges of aggravated DUI.
The court officer claimed that she had repeatedly asked Estelle to take her feet off from other seats.
Estelle was also accused of being disrespectful to the court as she was talking loudly while the judge was sitting on the bench.
After being reprimanded for placing her feet on the seats, Estelle got up, walked to the court officer and came within three to four inches of her, police said.
She then sneezed on the officer’s face and left a “mucous-type substance” on her, according to police.
The officer also accused Estelle of pushing her chest.
Estelle was booked into jail, where she spent about six hours before being released on $1,000 bail.
