An elderly man was arrested on a charge of arson after allegedly setting his new car on because he did not like it anymore, police in Florida said.
North Port police said that they have arrested 76-year-old Finis Ray Jordan, after being accused of burning his car to get insurance money in order to buy a new vehicle.
Jordan was charged with arson, burn with intent to defraud an insurer and making a false report. According to the police investigation, on Saturday, Jordan burned his 2015 Chrysler 200 in a wooded area.
He then called the police to report that his car was stolen. Later that day, the car was found burned in the wooded area near the suspect’s home.
When police officers confronted him about the find, Jordan began to change his story.
Eventually, admitted to burning the car because he did not like it anymore and wanted to collect the insurance money to buy a new one.
