TV producer of the United States raped and killed in Belize while doing yoga

(Scroll down for video) A tour guide called police after seeing a woman’s belongings near a river for a while.

Police in Belize, found a backpack, shoes, water bottle and a yoga mat near the river.

The items belonged to 39-year-old Anne Swaney, who was an executive producer at the ABC station in Chicago, Illinois. Police went to her hotel room, but she was not there.

Police launched a search for the woman, but they were unable to locate her.

Police said that Swaney, was doing yoga near the Mopan River on Thursday morning about a quarter of a mile from where she was staying, when she went missing.

A dog picked up the scent of Swaney, who was the executive producer of online operations at WLS-TV, where she had worked for 16 years.

Divers found her almost naked body floating face down in the river. Police believe that she was sexually assaulted before being killed.

An autopsy revealed that Swaney was killed by strangulation. Police found defensive wounds, showing that Swaney tried to fight off her attacker.
