A man and a woman were arrested on a charge of assault after allegedly shaving a woman’s head because she accused them of stealing her phone, police in Nigeria said.

Lagos State police said that they have arrested 27-year-old Ihuoma Ikechukwu and 52-year-old Angela Tony, after they were accused of entering the shop of Udoka Ashijuru, and stealing her phone before forcefully shaving her head.

Both suspects were charged with conspiracy, theft and assault.

They were booked into jail, and bail was set at N50,000 ($250) each.

According to the police investigation, the two suspects entered the woman’s shop on Monday, before the owner’s cellphone went missing.

When Ashijuru realized that her phone was missing, she went after the suspects and asked them for her phone. Ikechukwu and Tony immediately began beating the woman before they used a razor to shave her head.

In court, Ikechukwu and Tony pleaded not guilty to the charges.
