(Scroll down for video) A judge ruled that there was enough evidence to conclude that a father sexually assaulted his young daughter shortly before she died, according to court documents in the United Kingdom.

13-month-old Poppi Worthington was found with serious injuries in her home in Barrow.

Her father, 48-year-old Paul Worthington, was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, but was not charged with any crime.

He denied the allegations, and said that he never hurt his daughter. This week, Justice Peter Jackson of the Liverpool Crown Court, ruled that he believes Paul raped his daughter.

Home Office pathologist Dr. Alison Armour, believes that Poppi was the victim of a penetrative sexual assault.

Justice Jackson said that he could not accept Paul’s version of the events that happened the day his daughter was found seriously injured.

According to Paul, Poppi woke up screaming around 5:30 a.m.

An ambulance was called, but she died at the hospital. An autopsy found that the girl had a previous fracture on the right leg and other suspected acute injuries.

Cumbria police announced that no charges would be brought against anyone for the death of Poppi. The judge criticized the way the police investigated the case.

Justice Jackson said that, the careful evaluation and meticulous pathological pediatric evidence has clearly established that the injuries of Poppi, were the result of trauma.

He concluded that Paul penetrated his daughter before her death.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is reviewing the way Cumbria police conducted their investigation.

During an investigation, it emerged that Paul watched pornography on his laptop hours before his daughter’s death.
