(Scroll down for video) A doctor was arrested after many of his patients died while taking drugs that he prescribed.
Psychiatrist Narendra Nagareddy of Georgia, was arrested after it was discovered that many of his patience died from drug overdoses.
Clayton County Police Chief Mike Register said that Dr. Nagareddy, who is psychiatrist in Jonesboro, “overprescribed opiates and benzodiazepine to his patients, and over several years has had a multitude of overdoses and overdose deaths.”
Police said that 36 of Nagareddy’s patients died, at least 12 were confirmed by autopsies to have died from overdoses on the prescription medications that he gave them.
Clayton County District Attorney Tracy Graham Lawson said that Nagareddy “prescribed pain medication, which is outside his profession as a psychiatrist and not for a legitimate purpose for the patient.”
