A grandmother is devastated over the loss of her beloved grandson.
Police in Louisiana, said that the boy was sleeping in his grandmother’s bed when the gun accidentally went off in middle of the night.
42-year-old Deonca Kennedy, who works as a security guard in New Orleans, was charged in the murder of her 3-year-old grandson, who was fatally shot when the gun under the pillow went off while they slept.
According to police, the bullet hit the boy in the chest around 2:10 a.m. on Wednesday, at a residence in the 5600 block of Red Maple Drive.
The child was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries. Kennedy, was arrested a few hours later on charges of negligent homicide, cruelty to a juvenile and child desertion.
A woman describing herself as Kennedy’s sister, posted a message on Facebook saying that her “grandson was her world.”
