(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested after he adopted a dog so he can hand it over to officials instead of his vicious dog.

Jason Dotson, 32, who loves his dog, did not want it to be euthanised despite the fact that it was deemed to be “vicious and dangerous.”

His dog was ordered to be put to sleep after it viciously attacked the neighbor’s service dog while it was off its leash.

A judge ordered Dotson to hand his dog over to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) to be euthanised.

However, Dotson, who did not want to part with his beloved dog, came up with a scheme. He adopted a dog that looked similar to his pet and he handed it to the SPCA.

SPCA Lieutenant Brandon Corcoran said that a technician recognized the dog as it was adopted just two days before, and noticed its microchip didn’t match the one that was supposed to be put down.

Dotson was arrested and sentenced to 28 days in jail. His dog has since been euthanized.

Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Brad Greenberg said: “It’s one thing for you to ignore a court order, it’s quite another thing to try to perpetrate a fraud on this court. You tried to have an innocent dog killed.”
