A scientist was arrested on a charge of sexual assault after raping a young girl during fake medical examinations, police in the United Kingdom said.
Now, 45-year-old Andong Ashu of Hull, has been found guilty of 11 counts of sexual assault after being accused of sexually assaulting the girl since she was just 11 years old.
Ashu was taken to jail, pending a sentencing hearing.
According to the police investigation, Ashu began abusing the girl on the pretext of medical examinations when she was 11 years old.
The girl told investigators that she cried during the attack. The attacks continued for years and became increasingly serious, until he started to rape her.
She tried to push him off her and told him to stop, but she was ignored. Ashu warned the girl that no one would believe her if she complained because he is a scientist and she is just a kid.
Eventually, the girl went to a police station and reported the abuse. Ashu is originally from Cameroon, and was granted asylum in the country after arriving with other refugees.
