A man was arrested on a charge of battery after allegedly spitting in a doctor’s face because his request for drugs was denied, police in Florida said.
Niceville police said that they have arrested 50-year-old Maurice Joseph Caillouet, after being accused of spitting at the doctor who was treating him at the Twin Cities Hospital.
Caillouet was charged with one count of battery on an officer.
He was booked into the Okaloosa County Corrections facility, and his bail was set at $2,000. According to the police investigation, Caillouet entered the hospital with complaints of a toothache.
He then became aggressive, and started yelling and cursing when he was told that he could not receive any painkillers.
He then proceeded to spit in the doctor’s face. Caillouet managed to escape from the hospital before police arrived.
Caillouet was found at his home an hour later. He admitted to spitting on the doctor, but said it was an accident caused by his toothache.
The doctor however, told investigators that Caillouet deliberately spat on her because he was angry.
