A group of creative guys tried to make money by renting out an igloo, which they built in their backyard.

The roommates of Brooklyn, New York, saw the heavy snow as an opportunity to have fun building an igloo and to earn extra cash.

28-year-old Patrick Horton took to Airbnb, where he advertised a “Boutique Winter Igloo for 2.”

In the post he wrote: “Dripping with ingenuity and alt-lifestyle aura lays this snowpocalypse’s most desirable getaway. Built completely by hand, all natural. Come experience this chic dome-style bungalow with Bae.”

Horton said that it started out as a prank, but his roommates thought that it might work because Airbnb has a section to list igloos.

However, they soon got a very cool letter from an Airbnb employee, informing them that the listing has been removed and they offered a $50 coupon for a vacation.

The letter stated: “Hi. My name is Duston, and I work with Airbnb Trust and Safety Team. I am contacting you regarding your new listing the Boutique Winter Igloo for 2.

“We are happy to see that you guys are staying busy and having fun during Blizpocalypse.

“Unfortunately, your igloo, while very well constructed, has failed to meet our occupancy standards. As an appreciator of fine igloos around the world, I did want to offer you a coupon that you can use to book your first reservation as a guest.”

The rep also gave Horton a $50 coupon and urged him to “pick a place with running water, electricity, and a roof that doesn’t melt.”
