Police in New York, said that a sanitation worker claimed that he was attacked and robbed while loyally serving the city.
31-year-old Michael Morelli said that his cellphone was stolen after he was pistol-whipped and attacked. Morelli initially told police that he and his girlfriend of 16 years were attacked while clearing snow from a fire hydrant in Queens at 4:00 a.m.
However, police learned that he was attacked after he solicited a woman for sex. Police said that Morelli was left with a big bruise on his forehead when he was attacked by two men.
The men allegedly fought with Morelli over an issue with the prostitute. He later admitted to police that his phone was not stolen, but it was lost during the fist fight with his attackers.
Morelli was arrested and charged with filing a false report.
