(Scroll down for video) A young boy became an Internet sensation after photos were uploaded, showing him in a homemade Lionel Messi jersey.
5-year-old Murtaza Ahmadi of Afghanistan, made headlines after a family member uploaded a photo of him to Facebook.
In the photo, Ahmadi was seen wearing a shopping bag that was made into a jersey. The boy’s father said that his son is a huge fan of football player Lionel Messi from Argentina.
However, the father, who works as a farmer, said that he could not afford to buy his son a jersey, and when the 5-year-old boy insisted on getting one, his older brother made him one using a plastic bag.
The “jersey” included the name Messi and his number “10.” After some speculation that the story was a hoax, the family was tracked down.
On Facebook, Messi posted photos of the boy wearing the jersey and he wrote: “Here is the real kid. He lives in Ghazni province of Afghanistan.”
