A nuclear engineer was arrested on a charge of murder after allegedly killing a young woman who was advertising fur coats on the street on a loudspeaker, police in Russia said.
Moscow police said that they have arrested 58-year-old Sergey Galakhov, after being accused of killing 25-year-old Anna Nosova, because she was making too much noise on his street.
Galakhov was charged with one count of murder. If convicted, Galakhov faces up to 15 years in prison.
According to the police investigation, on Tuesday, Galakhov fired his hunting rifle at Nosova, as she was advertising fur coats on a loudspeaker on the street.
Galakhov admitted to shooting his weapon, but said that he did not intent to kill her. He also claimed that he thought she was a man, and he fired a shot to scare her away from his street.
Galakhov also excused his behavior, saying that he was under the influence of alcohol and that he had been fired from his job the previous day.
