A homeowner was happy to learn that young and dumb thieves were unable to get away with his huge safe.
Police in Texas, said that on Thursday approximately 2:00 p.m., the Hays County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary in progress at The Regency Mobile Home Park.
The residence is located in the 300 block of Woodrose in San Marcos. The homeowner contacted 911 after he received a motion activated alarm on his cellphone.
The homeowner was able to provide the 911 operator the physical description of the three subjects who he observed on his cellphone via a surveillance camera.
The officers arrived within one minute of the call. The officers observed three subjects attempting to load a large safe into a small car.
However, the safe became wedged in the door as the opening was not big enough for it. When the three suspects spotted the officers, they fled on foot and were apprehended after a short pursuit.
The suspects were identified as Jared Lupe Zavala, 24, Oscar Perez, Jr., 21, and Joel Rene Perez, 20. All three were charged with burglary of a habitation.
