(Scroll down for video) A man said that he was surprised to learn that the McDonald’s mozzarella sticks contain no cheese despite claiming that they are 100 percent real cheese.
Now, Chris Howe of California, filed a lawsuit against the company, demanding $5 million as compensation for the false claims.
Howe alleges that the sticks are filled with a substance that is made from starch, which is a violation of the federal standards of mozzarella cheese.
Federal guidelines prohibit the use of starch in products that are labeled as mozzarella.
According to the lawsuit, McDonald’s reduce its costs by using a filler and therefore, had used unfair and fraudulent advertising on their menu, which contained mozzarella cheese sticks.
McDonald’s refutes these claims, saying the company has not engaged in deceptive practices, saying that their mozzarella sticks are made with 100 percent cheese.
