An elderly man was arrested on a charge of possession of child pornography after a technician found child pornography images on his personal computer, police in New York said.
Now, 63-year-old Michael Murray of Queens, has pleaded guilty to promoting a sexual performance by a child.
He faces a sentence of up to three years in prison.
According to the police investigation, a technician at the Best Buy located at 50-01 Northern Boulevard in Long Island City, began to work on the laptop computer that Murray dropped off for repairs, when the laptop’s screen saver started displaying a slideshow of multiple images of young girls posing provocatively.
The computer also displayed pictures of girls engaged in sex acts with adult men. The technician alerted his supervisor and contacted the police.
When police went to Murray’s residence, he admitted that he knew what was on his screen saver and had been exchanging files of child pornography with others on the Internet for approximately five years.
A forensic exam of the defendant’s computer revealed nearly 400 images of child pornography.
