(Scroll down for video) An 8-year-old boy stole his mother’s gun and went to a convenience store in order to rob the place.
The boy of Florida, was charged with attempted armed robbery.
The boy, who was identified by his mother as Jaden, walked into the King Foods and Meat Bazaar, and demanded cash.
The surveillance video captured the moment the child entered the store, wearing a motorcycle helmet. He also had a sweater covering his mouth.
The boy brandished the gun and told workers at the West Palm Beach store: “Give me the f*****g money.” Two workers quickly disarmed the 8-year-old boy and detained him until police arrived.
The boy, admitted to officers that he stole the gun from his mother, police said. The boy’s mother said that from now on, she will keep the gun in a secure safe.
Although the boy was initially charged with attempted armed robbery with a firearm and aggravated assault, the state decided to drop the charges.
Instead, the boy must attend a diversion program, and he was ordered to stay away from the convenience store that he attempted to rob at gunpoint.
A diversion program is often run by a police department or outside agency. It is designed to enable offenders to avoid criminal charges and a criminal record.
